Jennifer Hodge - Four Eyes Quartet

The Society is excited to welcome home Jennifer Hodge for what promises to be an exciting concert on Sunday March 22.

Appearing with basssist Jennifer will be Jens Christiansen, woodwinds, Catherine Toren, piano and Mike Ardagh, drums. From Jennifer's web site:

Jennifer Hodge is a versatile upright and electric bass player originally from Vancouver Island and has been gigging since she was 15. . . She graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Music from Capilano College's Jazz Studies program in 2007 . . . In 2005, she became the first recipient of the Linton Garner Memorial Jazz Award. She also led a quartet in the 2007 Vancouver International Jazz Festival . . . Jen freelances regularly with a variety of bands and has performed in such diverse groups as Lloyd Arntzen's Red Onion Rhythm Kings, Mother of Pearl, the Higgins, Amy Stephen and Friends, and the Vancouver Philharmonic Orchestra, to name a few. This past summer, she helped co-found swing band Company B, for which she writes and transcribes arrangements.

Women of Jazz

The March 5 Jazz Club will be a very special night. Join 12 of our area's top vocalists as they honour the great women of jazz in word and song. Proceeds from the evening go to the Comox Valley Transition Society's Lilli House.

Timed to recognize International Women's Day (March 8), the evening will be a fitting and meaningfull showcase of the incredible talent in our area.


Every Thursday

7:30 pm, at Courtenay's Elk's Hall, September through July. No cover. Musicians welcome to sit in on the final set jam.
