JAZZ STUFF

On your birthday - what happened in the jazz world?

The ultimate in jazz trivia. The Smithsonian Institution jazz web site contains a lot of great information. And other stuff. Want to know what happened in the jazz world the day you were born / married / divorced / bar mitzvah'd . . ? Check out their This Day in Jazz History page.

On April 29 (the day this was written), Pianist Thelonious Monk records San Francisco Holiday in 1960 and Louis Armstrong records Blue Again in 1931. Milt Jackson was a New Year's baby and Cab Minnie the Moocher Calloway was born on Christmas day. Miles' Kind of Blue album was recorded March 2.

What can't you find on the 'net?
