The GSJS Sunday Concert Series promises to be spectacular this fall and into spring of 2009. The line up so far:
- September 28 - Desperation Jazz Band
- October 19 - Sharon Minemoto Quartet
- November 2 - Silver Review with James McRae
- November 30 - Barbara Blair, vocalist workshop
- December 7 - Marc Atkinson Trio
- January 11 - Jennifer Hodge Quartet
Mark your calendars. Tickets go on sale at the Jazz Club, beginning Thursday September 4.

AT THE JAZZ CLUB
We're back - every Thursday 7:30 pm, at Courtenay's Elk's Hall, September through July. No cover. Musicians welcome to sit in on the final set jam.

Cuba Connection
In March 2008, the GSJS hosted two evenings at a local Comox club to raise money for Havana's Jose Cartulos Fine Arts Middle School for Girls. Charlotte and Dave Harvey delivered a cheque for $750.00 CDN to the school later that month. The money went toward a purchase of a piano for their touring assemblies. Many thanks to the performers and patrons who made this possible.
The GSJS would be pleased to send any more funds that members wish to donate to the fine arts school in Havana. Contact Dave Harvey at 897-0985 for more information. Watch the GSJS web site for more information and pictures.
