Happy Holidays CD

The reigning monarchs of Canada’s vocal jazz scene come together as “We Three Queens”, presenting Christmas Jazz to knock your socks off on Saturday, December 18th at 7:30 pm in the Elk’s Hall. Co-presented by the Georgia Straight Jazz Society and the Beltone Hearing Care Centre, this concert will be the premier music event of this Christmas season.

The trio have just released a CD of holiday classics and carols from around the world that captures their exquisite voices in harmony and solo settings, and features outstanding musicians Chris Sigerson on piano, Rene Worst on bass, and Tom Foster on drums.  The new CD “Happy Holiday” will be sold at the concert, with proceeds going to the BC Professional Firefighters Burn Fund.

Kate Hammett-Vaughan is one of Canada’s most distinctive and assured jazz vocalists, and a marvellous story-teller.  Karin Plato sings with an entrancing voice that is subtle and powerful, and ideally suited to jazz. Jennifer Scott combines stunning vocal command with breathtaking emotional depth.  Each of these singers possesses enormous talent and presence, and their generous musicianship allows this collective undertaking to work like a charm.

Generosity and musicianship are also the bywords for their fine backing trio.  Rene Worst is simply a treasure among Canadian jazz bassists. Chris Sigerson is a widely-recorded pianist, in demand as a feature performer and accompanist.  Tom Foster is one of the busiest jazz drummers in Vancouver.

Adding to the concert's vocal magic, the Comox Valley's own wonderful Swing Set will open the evening.

The sextet travels to the Comox Valley just ahead of their sold-out dates at the Cellar Jazz Club in Vancouver, and their Christmas Eve benefit performance at St. Andrew’s-Wesley United Church in Vancouver.  This is a unique Comox Valley opportunity to catch “We Three Queens” in concert, and take home their new CD, the perfect gift for the music lover on your list.
