Diane Lines Quartet

Diane LinesThe Georgia Straight Jazz Society is proud to host the
Diane Lines Quartet

Sunday May 24, 7:30 pm
Elks Home, 6th Street, Coutenay

Did you notice the fabulous singer in the band the last time Dal Richards and his Orchestra came to town?  The Georgia Straight Jazz Society did!  The society has arranged for Diane Lines to return to the Comox Valley with her quartet on Sunday May 24th.

Lines is not only a finely-tuned singer capable of torchy blues or nimble scatting, she is also a piano player in demand as an accompanist.  The Diane Lines Quartet features Diane on keyboards and vocals, Tim Porter on guitar, Tim Stacey on bass, and Rob Ferguson on drums and percussion.

Lines has world-wide performance credits, appearing with such greats as Bob Hope, Les Brown and Michale Bublé.  She studied at the Banff School of Fine Arts and at the Toronto-based Humber School for the Performing Arts.  Now based in Vancouver, she plays regularly with Dal Richards, R & B singer Joani Bye, and smooth jazz artist Gabriel Mark Hasselbach. Learn more on dianelines.com.

The Show begins at 7:30 and the seating is limited in this intimate comfortable setting.

Tickets:
$12 GSJS members
$16 non-members
available at Bop City, Thursday evening Jazz Club at the Elks and at the door.

Tim Porter plays guitar in many genres.  As a rock musician, he was the long-term guitarist for the popular Vancouver band Brickhouse.  At the blues end of the spectrum, he’s performed with Long John Baldry and the Powder Blues Band.  In the jazz realm, he’s a regular with Dal Richards, Carol Welsman and others.

Tim Stacey plays electric and acoustic bass, also ranging across a spectrum of styles.  He also performs with Dal Richards, but has also appeared with Michael Kaeshammer, the Victoria Symphony and Ballet BC, and even Dame Vera Lynn!

Rob Ferguson has worked as a percussionist and drummer providing the driving force behind many wonderful performers, including Dido and the Hand People, Jeff St. Germain, the Dal Richards Orchestra, and the Universal Gospel Choir.

This stellar quartet brings their musical inspiration to the Comox Valley on May 24th.  Tickets are $16, or $12 for society members, and are available at Bop City Records and at every Thursday Jazz at the Elks
