Get ready for an unforgettable summer evening of soulful jazz and vineyard vibes as acclaimed saxophonist Monik Nordine takes the stage at 40 Knots Winery alongside jazz powerhouses Ken Lister (bass) and Pablo Cardenas (keyboard). Described by Downbeat Magazine as having "solid performance and writing chops", Monik Nordine's powerful playing and rich compositions have made her a standout voice in Canadian jazz. A veteran of the Juno-nominated Cruel Yet Fair with John Korsrud's Hard Rubber Orchestra and a collaborator with sitarist Mungal Patasar in Trinidad, Nordine's musical journey has taken her from Sweden to the Poplar River First Nation in Manitoba and now, to the heart of Vancouver Island wine country. This July 31st concert will be a lush retrospective of her storied career, featuring selections from her four celebrated albums; Not Just To But Over the Moon, Departure, The Old-New Town, and Live in Stockholm. Let the wine flow and the sax soar; this is a midsummer night of jazz you won't want to miss. Come early to grab seats, enjoy the beautiful setting and enjoy delicious offerings from our local food truck vendor, or bring a picnic to enjoy with 40 Knots beverages. Advance tickets available online at Eventbrite Monik Nordine Trio as well as cash only at the door for $25 ($20 for GSJS Members) and $10 for students. Doors open 6pm with downbeat at 7pm. |
