From Coast to Coast to Comox: Award-Winning Bassist Josh Warren Brings The Path Home
Fresh from stages across Canada, acclaimed bassist, composer and arranger Josh Warren returns to Vancouver Island for a special one-time-only performance celebrating his debut album, The Path. Joined by an all-star lineup of Vancouver Island musicians, Warren promises an evening of modern jazz that is deeply rooted in tradition while fearlessly exploring musical influences from around the globe.
Originally from Victoria and now based in Toronto, Warren has quickly established himself as one of Canada’s exciting new voices in jazz. An award-winning bassist and composer, he has shared the stage and studio with Grammy-nominated and JUNO Award-winning artists including Ingrid Jensen, Jeremy Ledbetter, Rich Brown, Allison Au and Joaquin Nuñez. His debut recording, The Path, engineered and mixed by JUNO Award winner Patric McGroarty, showcases his lyrical compositions and inventive approach to contemporary jazz.
Joining Warren is an exceptional ensemble featuring Andrew Janusson on guitar, Cayleigh Borsboom on saxophones, and Alex Campbell on drums.
Janusson, a multi-award-winning guitarist from Nanaimo, has earned a reputation as one of British Columbia’s premier jazz musicians. A graduate of Vancouver Island University, he has performed alongside celebrated artists including John Clayton, Ben Wendel, Phil Dwyer, PJ Perry and Sean Jones, while maintaining an active career as a performer, composer and educator.
Saxophonist Cayleigh Borsboom brings warmth, lyricism and creative energy to the quartet. After studying jazz at Humber College in Toronto under some of Canada’s leading musicians, she settled in Nanaimo, where she balances her work as a Mental Health Coordinator with an active performing career.
Completing the quartet is drummer Alex Campbell, whose dynamic playing has made him one of Vancouver Island’s most sought-after musicians. Having performed professionally since his early teens, Campbell has toured extensively throughout North America and is known for his versatility as a performer, recording artist and composer.
Together, these four outstanding musicians create a compelling musical conversation—one that blends expressive improvisation, original compositions and inspired interplay.
